Climate

In recent years the primary focus on tackling climate change has focussed on investment in the technological side of solutions. While public funding for climate-related research and development has increased dramatically, the human element is too often overlooked by organisations; getting adoption right will be critical in the successful implementation of solutions. Only a deep understanding of people and their social and cultural worlds has the potential to effectively guide, implement, and develop, the climate solutions of tomorrow.

FILM

Our original short film, A Second Skin, part of our special series on Flesh, looks at how novel applications of natural materials, specifically mycelium, challenge our categories around beauty, material production, and innovation. We grapple with these themes through the story of Phil Ross, co-founder of MycoWorks, a California-based technology company that produces fungal mycelium for some of the world’s most iconic fashion houses. Phil’s approach bridges conceptual art and philosophy with bio-tech and material production, and forms, in short, a blueprint for a new way of making with nature.
